Craig Aburn, 37, has been Group Councillor for LG5&6 since 2000 and will be retiring at Easter 2009 after three terms of office. He has been a member of the Guild since 1991 and served as Chapter Secretary of the Chapter of the Incarnate Word from 1996-2004. After a brief rest of one year from chapter responsibility, Craig was elected as Chapter Treasurer in March 2005. In 2007 he was re-elected as the Chapter Secretary of the merged Chapter of the Incarnate Word with St Alban and St Edward. Standing down as Secretary in 2008, he was subsequently elected as Chapter Chairman.

In March 2005 Craig  became a National Officer of the Guild when he was appointed as Guild Master of Ceremonies by the General Council . This appointment was approved by the 2005 Annual General Meeting of the Guild. The purpose of the appointment of the Guild MC is to maintain serving standards and the profile of Guild when serving at national events.

Since 2003 he has been responsible for the serving at the Guild's Easter Festival and also at the Epiphany Festival which he originally organised on behalf of the London Chapters. However, this is now a well established regional festival with members from the South Coast, Midlands, Wales and the West regularly attending.

Craig began serving when he was five years old at the famous Anglo-Catholic Parish Church of S. Alban the Martyr, Holborn in June 1977 as Boat boy at a High Mass for the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II. Craig served there for twenty years and learnt much of his liturgical and ceremonial knowledge at the church where he  was also confirmed and married by successive Bishops of Edmonton; Bishop William Westwood confirmed him in 1980 & Bishop Brian Masters married him to Nicki in 1995. It was therefore a joy for him that he was installed as Councillor, at the Easter Festival 2000, in the church that had played such a large part in his life.

Craig is currently a server (and subdeacon) at the Church of S. Silas the Martyr, Kentish Town London NW5, where he has permission from the Bishop of Edmonton to assist with holy communion. Craig is also a parish representative to the South Camden Deanery Synod and Secretary to the Parochial Church Council. The Parish Priest, Fr Graeme Rowlands, the Chaplain-General of the Society of Mary, has known Craig since he was a 'bump’, has expanded Craig's liturgical knowledge and is a Godfather to Craig’s son, John.  

Being a traditionalist, Craig is a member of Forward in Faith. He is also an a member of the Society of Mary (for whom he also the Webmaster and a Member of the General Council), the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, the Society of Our Lady of Walsingham and the Catholic League. He is also represents the Guild on the Council of Catholic Societies and maintains the Catholic Societies Web diary.

Craig works at Brooklands College at Weybridge in Surrey as a Contracts Officer. He is married to Nicki and they have two children; a eight year old son, John and a three year old daughter, Victoria. They also have a cat called ‘Smudge’. 

Craig tries to visit each Chapter under his care at least twice a year and also organises the Epiphany Festival.
